John Parry in Weaste Cemetery, Salford

'IN MEMORY OF
JOHN PARRY,
MEMBER OF THE
LITERARY AND PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY
OF MANCHESTER,
AN EARLY DIRECTOR OF THE
MECHANICS INSTITUTE IN THE CITY,
AN ARDENT STUDENT AND WORKER
IN THE CAUSE OF SCIENCE.
HE DIED 27TH JANUARY 1866, AGED 62.'
Parry had a common name, which makes it difficult to pinpoint references to him, but all the same he doesn't appear to have published anything.

John Parry (1804-1866) worked as an engraver for Joseph Lockett and Sons, later becoming a cashier. He is mentioned in Lockett's obituary in the Art Journal (vol.33, 1 May 1871, p. 139)as a friend of John Dalton. You may have mistranscribed his age at death: 62.
